Two words: people watching. Venice is renowned for its offbeat characters and local charm — a Venentian flavor all its own. Get out and watch amateurs and pros alike at the legendary skate park…or pump iron at Muscle Beach, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s old flexing grounds…or simply stroll and soak it in along the vibrant Boardwalk.

A Historically Vibrant Community

Venice was originally conceived in 1905 by visionary American developer and conservationist Abbot Kinney — inspired to create the “Venice of America,” he designed a themed seaside resort complete with canals, gondolas, and an arched colonnade framing a town square. Today, Kinney’s namesake boulevard is a renowned center of eclectic shopping and high-end dining…and the path along his winding canals are the perfect place to stretch your legs on a Venice walk.
